Residents may also arrange for health care services through external providers, in accordance with community policies. In select locations, third-party home care providers are available on-site to assist with medical or personal care needs. Please note: Services may vary slightly by location.
Is an assisted living community the same as a nursing home?
No. While both provide support with activities of daily living—like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating—assisted living communities and nursing homes are distinct in scope and regulation.
Nursing homes offer full-time medical care and are equipped to provide skilled nursing services on-site. In contrast, residents in an assisted living community like Arcadia receive non-medical support in a more residential setting. Any additional health services are arranged directly through outside agencies or providers.
Assisted living also typically offers greater privacy and independence, including private apartments with bathrooms, personal thermostats, and a home-like environment that encourages autonomy and community engagement.
Do I have to share a living unit (i.e., apartment) with another client?
No. Each resident enjoys a private apartment. However, if you’d like to live with a spouse or another person of your choosing, shared accommodations can be arranged under mutual agreement.
Do I have to sign any legal papers?
Yes. Before moving in, residents are required to review and sign a lease agreement, which outlines all policies, responsibilities, rights, and protections for both you and the community. This ensures transparency and mutual understanding from the very beginning.
Will you provide me with transportation to my doctor, hairdresser, etc.?
Yes. Arcadia provides scheduled transportation for medical appointments, errands, personal outings, and more. Specific transportation details—such as availability and scheduling—are clearly outlined in your lease agreement. Our team is happy to assist with coordinating rides to ensure you stay connected and mobile.
Can I bring furniture and furnishings for my living unit?
Yes! At Arcadia, we encourage residents to bring their own furniture, decorations, and personal keepsakes to help make their apartment feel like home. Your living space should reflect your personality and provide comfort and familiarity from day one.
What determines the cost of living in an assisted living community?
The cost of living in an assisted living community depends on several factors, including:
- The size and layout of your apartment
- The level of care or assistance you require
- Any additional services you choose to add
At Arcadia, we believe in transparency, which is why all fees, services, and care levels are clearly outlined up front—so you can make an informed decision with no surprises.
Are the assisted living community employees required to be trained?
Yes. All Arcadia team members receive training relevant to their specific roles. This includes initial training upon hire as well as ongoing education to ensure we maintain the highest standards of service, safety, and care.
Do you conduct criminal records checks on your employees?
Absolutely. Arcadia conducts criminal background checks on all employees as part of our hiring process. The safety and peace of mind of our residents and families are top priorities.
Does Medicare or Medicaid pay for assisted living services?
In most cases, Medicare and Medicaid do not cover assisted living services. However, if you’re receiving healthcare services from an external licensed provider, certain expenses may be eligible for coverage. Our team can help you understand your options and navigate available resources.
Do long term care insurance policies pay for services in assisted living communities?
Yes, some long-term care insurance policies do provide coverage for services in assisted living communities. Because benefits vary by policy, it’s important to review the terms closely. We’re happy to assist you in understanding your coverage and how it may apply to our services.
